Cursillo comes from the Spanish and means "a short course."  The full title, CURSILLOS IN CRISTIANDAD, has been translated, "short course in Christian living."  Cursillo is intended to help Christians learn and live what is fundamental as a Christian.  Having done that, Cursillo is intended to help these same Christians discover and live out a personal vocation.

The purpose of the Cursillo movement is to convert Christians to a deeper relationship with God and to help them understand their individual callings to be Christian leaders

Cursillo is a movement of the Church — not a separate organization with its own agenda.

What Cursillo is not

v     A body of the spiritually elite;
v     A para-church organization;
v     An evangelistic program;
v     A part of the human potential movement;
v     A form of group therapy;
v     A parish renewal program;
v     A part of the ecumenical movement;
v     A weekend extravaganza.
